Treaty of Waitangi

The Treaty of Waitangi

A treaty is a formally written document/contract. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the 6th of February 1840. By the end of 1840 500 Maori people signed it.  Maori people used their names or moko. Some British European Settlers signed it. 39 people did not sign it. William Hobson came to New Zealand and he helped write the treaty of Waitangi. Henry Williams and his son Edward translated it into Maori. There has been lots of debate  because the Maori and the English version were different. Tamali Waka Nene and Hone Hekni Pokai said the Treaty was a good thing because that way you will not fight. Since the treaty was signed British people said they will not take away Maori lands but after a few years British people did not keep their promise and took away Maori lands.

Recount on Duffy Theatre

Duffy Theatre

People in the play:
Rick (the Dad), Duffy (Bex´s friend), Bex (Duffy´s friend) and Milly the Corgan (Bex´s pet).

Yay

I didn't know that we were going to the Duffy Theatre. I was so excited when I got there to watch a Duffy show. We went to the Duffy Theatre for a show. The first thing we did was sing the Duffy Song and do the actions. Bex asked her dad if she was allowed a pet Corgan and her dad said ¨ yes ¨ so they looked on the internet to find one. At the show Bex bought a Corgan. Bex’s friend was Duffy. Corgan´s name was Milly. During the show Bex lost Milly the Corgan, and then Duffy and Bex were looking for Milly the Corgan.

At the Duffy show the whole school sung a song so we could help Bex get her Corgan back again. When we were singing Bex was holding the words up while we were singing.

When she was found she ate a nut bar. Milly the Corgan ate nut bars, oats and kiwis. Milly had a friend Kiwi. Milly was ⅓ dog, ⅓ cat and ⅓ chicken. She was very funny and when Bex said ¨Bad Milly¨, she would do a very big poo. At the end she lay a super big egg.

Overall I enjoyed watching the Duffy show because there was a funny and silly Corgan. My favourite character was Milly the Corgan because she was funny and very silly. I felt super happy after watching the show.

My Thing Link Duality Map

Yesterday I made a Thing Link on my Duality Map. I compared New Zealand against Hong Kong. I looked at dances, plants, flags, national animal, games, vocabulary, foods and clothes. It was fun learning about my home country against New Zealand.

Room 1 birthdays

In Room 1, May and July had the most birthdays celebrated. Four students celebrated their birthdays
during May and July. February, April, June and September had the same number of people celebrating
their birthdays in these months. Two people celebrated their birthdays in February, April, June and
September.

October, November and December had zero people celebrating their birthdays. February, April, June
and September had the same number of people celebrating their birthday. March was celebrated the
least because it only had one person celebrating their birthday. May and July were celebrated the
most because they had four people celebrating their birthdays. We had three students that celebrated
their birthdays in January and August. February, April, June and September had the same number
because they have two people in each month. I think July and May had the most people because lots
of us were born during these months.
